Testing out new camera before photo team meeting. Wish I could have stayed longer. There were at least three hummingbirds around.
I had no idea I got this shot till my camera did that preview thingy it does after taking the picture. Need to figure out how to turn that off as it could get annoying later on.
But. Am pretty impressed with camera....sometimes. I don't know if I could have gotten this with the other one. Maybe I was just lucky this time around.

Rufous Hummingbird
Selasphorus rufus

Very nice image , good lighting & sharpness on the little one , and a pretty pleasing background to boot !
Have you thought about photoshopping the light green bit on the lower left side ?? just a bit to tone it down ??
persistence pays off with these guy's even though they only seem to sit still for 10 seconds at a time !

Yeah. The rofous humming bird is pretty fiesty, and there were at least two others around and one would take off after the other when it was spotted.
I don't think about photoshop too often. I have it and could do it, but sometimes I don't really think about it.
I'm quite impressed with the camera's ability to take shots in low light. Was quite shady at sundown.

For this one I shot it with a Nikon Coolpix P100. Tis my new toy. And I quite like it. I got it for the purpose of taking it with me on every day things, or places where I'll just walk around, but may not use it for hour long zoo/refuge trips as the battery life sucks.

I haven't even read the manual yet. I'm sure it's in there, maybe. But a friend is coming up this weekend and he'll show me how to turn it off. And I shall pass on the information.
