Little Samudra by DeeOtter Little Samudra by DeeOtter
Photo back from 2008 of little Samudra in one of his first times outside.
Samudra now has a little sister!
His mother gave birth to a 300lbs (omg) baby girl early morning of November 30th. Mom & calf are doing very well, it'll be a while before everyone gets to see the baby in person, and people will be able to vote on her name once the zoo announces the list.

I won't be able to see the new kid till February/March when I'm next over in Oregon.

Asian elephant

Yep! He was named that because of his love for water. He loves splashing around in his pools, which most elephants do. There is one adult elephant who is named Sung-surin (aka sunshine) who dislikes the water.

such a cute elephant, but more amazing is the moment you got him. He looks like a cute pet tying out his ability to walk.

:D He's about 2 months old in this picture. He's gotten pretty good at walking on his own, but that trunk of his is still a mystery. He was freaking adorable when he was really young. He's still pretty cute now.

And now of course there is a 1 month old female at the zoo, so this elephant has a little sister that he has no idea what to do with.

Elephants are never my favorite, but I am excited to see this little one when she is available for viewing! One of my coworkers was saying that one of the names in consideration was Twinkle... not sure where she heard it, but EW. What a bad name for an elephant!

This is an adorable pic of Samudra, btw. <3

The baby ones are pretty cute. I remember watching Samudra running around and attempting to pick stuff up with his trunk.
A lot of people are saying her name should be Rainbow.... I have no idea why.
But I'm sure the keepers will probably be picking names with an Asian origin, or a combination of the parent's grandparent's names.
