Noticed that the sea bug has its appendages spread out in that 'help meeeee' pose while being in the beak of a seagull.
I thought it was amusing.

It was a bad day to be a sea bug.

And it seems that this gull is classified as 'Near Threatened' due to the fact that 90-95% of the birds breed on ONE island. The island that they breed on was declared a sanctuary, so disturbing or hunting down their eggs is frowned upon.

They're such distinctive looking gulls, this is a nice shot of one :)

Me either till I was looking up the scientific name. I think that brings my total of birds in the wild seen that are not of 'Least concern' to three.

California condor and olive-sided flycatcher that is also near threatened due to loss of wintering habitats.
Have yet to find pinyon jays, which look to be considered vulnerable according to the IUCN (Then again you can take that listing with a grain of salt, as I don't think it accounts for localized listings.)
