The bush that is around the giraffe/hornbill/gazelle area was in bloom before spring. It's probably the earliest blooming thing I've seen. Unless Oregon gets abnormally warm weather.

A number of chickadees were hanging out in the area. A pile of crumbs may have added to the chickadee attention.

They fly away from me a lot as well.
Especially kingfishers. I have no idea how others do it, but I've never gotten a good shot of a kingfisher because the moment I spot them they're vocalizing and flying far far away.

These guys may have been too preoccupied with each other to care too much about people watching them.

Haha yeah probably. And I saw what the kingfishers looked like on the internet , I have never seen them before. They are really beautiful . . . I hope you catch a picture of one!

They are so precious! The parents watch me as I go in and out, sometimes scolding me for getting to close. I can hear the babies peeping from inside the nest and I cant wait to see them fledge. Your picture captured their inquisitive nature and the flowers on that bush are beautiful.

Neat.
I had a pair of scrub jays nest near my house. Babies came around in the summer time and were having a ball in the yard searching for stuff to get into.
Haven't had any chickadees nesting around. I've seen some prepare nesting cavities but not much activity other than that.

Thanks! Spent a while there until they decided there was too much traffic around the food bits on the ground.

That and every parent wanted a picture of their kid next to the bush. It was weird..I think that spot was more popular than the bear height chart in polar bears.
